Hellos.....my 1st of many questions, i hope they are not to redundant to past questions, a gentleman by the name scarab suggested i hang here a bit.....ive a small 6 player Q3 server that im just moved from my mac on a part time bassis..to a dedicated Win Box...still in testing phase..

is there a diffrence b/w the way ME handles TCP/IP over 98se ...........or is it just interface enhancements?

ive heard 2000 is better for handeling a server set-up, but i havnt resolved to purchase a copy yet....and i do have an ME disc about, opinions?

thx

thx

In general the answer is NO, 98se and ME are same - same. ME does have a new "keep alive" type feature and a "enhanced" TCP/IP stack, however, I have not seen this be a difference for a game server one way or another.

Windows 2000 is of course superior to both, more in it's management abilities and on-the-fly changing than in raw performance.

Hope that helps.

Thx Zxel...it helped very much

...i have purchased 2000 now.

Under win2000...performance options....for a q3 server...should it be set for applications or background services.

I woud tend to believe backgroud services, just looking for confirmation...

I did buy a thick book...and will be spending some time w/ it this weekend as 2000 is new to me.

thx
