I want to install a QuakeServer for a LANparty. And I´ve the following Q´s.

I know how to install a dedicated server on NT but if I install it under Linux can I handle more users on that server because of
the overhead of NT??
Does some people have experience with that?

Is there a way to test this with bots?? Or put it in a otherway..does a bot give the CPU the same load as a human player??

Is the Linux server for Quake free?? (like Unreal).

What shall I use?? Red Hat..Suse?? it doesn´t matter because you´ve to compile the program anyway to have it running on your server.

You see I´ve different questions and hopefully someone who did this before can easily help me out.....

In answer to your question, it depends a lot on what you know about Linux. If you know Linux really well and have done admining on a linux machine before, and from what I understand, go Linux all the way (hopefully this weekend, I will learn linux http://gameadmins.com/ubb/smile.gif), but if you want to get a real quick server up, go Win NT or 2000. I will be running a Q3A server, RA3, CTF, and DM all on one box...
384MB ram baby, but from what others have told me, ram will be your biggest issue.

Hope that helps.
