Two Questions:
I have installed q3ded and baseq3 etc. in a directory owned by a username, say qadmin. All files and directories are owned by qadmin. The server runs fine, but I can't write to q3config.cfg. This file is owned by qadmin, is in the fs_path and has writeable permissions. Still the server throws an occasional error in the log that it can't write to this file. No problem really, except for bans. Any ideas?

2. In 1.17 I had skins in the baseq3 dir. When I installed 1.27g I had to put the skins in the mod directory for clients to use them. Problem is that the auto d/l wants to transfer them all. Once again, any clues?

Thx,

Marc

1. Are you running more than one game server at a time?

2. Skins are never needed on the server, they are client side. When downloading of them is needed insert them into the map pk3 file they go with, when clients download the map they'l get the skins too.

1. Yeah, 2 processes, 2 ports 27960 and 27961. Right now one on 1.17 in one dir, and another on 1.27 in another dir. Neither one will even write a log file. The dir has correct permissions as far as I can tell.

2. Problem is players want pure enabled. Without pure on, the models wont show on the client.

Plus, I have all sorts of client disconnect issues, trying to load some model called "James" even after I have removed all mdoels from the server. Funny thing is 1/2 of the players connect fine, the other 1/2 its a no-go. I can find nothing in thier configs or installations.

Thx for the help.

I meant to say with pure on, the files need to be on the server for the clients to use them.

Ok, found out the writing of the files. Simply renamed q3ded to q3server in one of the installs, now it seems to work fine. Duh. I never thought about the process names being the same. Still seems odd though. Also, still can't figure out the pure + models part without having them auto d/l. In 1.17 it owrked fine just by having them in baseq3.....
