Quake 3 Server 4 Linux not working

I don't know why it's not working. I copied all the right pak files and made a config file...when I run the server (I'm running the latest beta version), it comes up..loads the paks and then lists my hostname and IP address and then just sits there. I try to connect to it from my other machine, but it doesn't even show up in the list. When I try to specify it's IP address, I get no response. Any help is appericated

type status in the console see if the server is running, quake3 will start usually but if it's not running a config or map it will just sit there and stare at you until it's specified. If it says "server not running" or something similiar it's not running your config file or not on a map.
