Ok, I may be retarted but I can atleast say I've looked around for the last 2 days and can't find anything pertaining to my problem.

I am trying to setup a dedicated RA3 server.

I have (I believe) the most current patches/software, but whenever I run the server the last 2 things it says are "Hitch Warning: (random numbers)". If I try and copy/paste the hitch warning, it actually changes numbers...

Regardless of the hitch warnings, I try to connect to my own server (using the same machine) via the static IP. It kicks me back to the menu; same thing happens if I try to connect using local host (127.0.0.1). I've also tried starting from scratch, and even on a separate machine, all with the same results.

Running: Win2K P3 800Mhz 512MB Ram
Q3: 1.32
RA Client: RaCl 3.15
RA server: RaSvr 3.15 (or so it says in the readme and when I dled it..)

ra3server.bat file reads:

cd ..
start quake3.exe +set fs_game arena +set sv_pure 0 +set bot_enable 0 +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 27960 +exec server.cfg

The server.cfg I tried w/o editing it, and then slightly editing it (just name, admin pass rcon pass and dedicated 1)

arena.cfg I haven’t touched.

I apologies as I'm sure it's probably covered somewhere, but I've been unable to find it :(

Thanks for your help!

OK, i can't answer all ur questions, as i'm not a RA3-MOD-guy, here's the deal on hitch-warnings:

Hitch-time is the time, it takes for the CPU to switch between multiple tasks/processes, eg. switching between executing system-processes to q3-processes. So, high hitch-numbers means, that the CPU has too many jobs as to make the q3-server get proper CPU-time, as it has to let other processes get proper CPU-time to run properly! Please, try to minimize use of other applications on your server!
Another way of resolving the hitch-time-problem, is to run the server in HIGH priority mode, meaning that any NT-based windows will give more priority to your q3-server, hereby increasing the CPU-time given to the q3a-server!
You do this by starting your server from a BAT-file, which contains following line (Startup-line is taken from your own message!):
cd ..
start /HIGH /B quake3.exe +set fs_game arena +set sv_pure 0 +set bot_enable 0 +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 27960 +exec server.cfg

Regarding your other problems, I am not sure to what your solution could be, but have u tried:
cl_allowdownload 1
..in your client-cfg? Most of the times, a kick to menu is made due to missing client files, or maps! Please, check your console for errors by scrolling way back in the console, and checking all text for errors!

This might help with your problem of getting kicked back to the menu.

How to connect to Q3 from your LAN:

Add +set net_port 27660 to the client shortcut so that server and client don't try to use the same port 27960. This should fix the in-game brower problem too.

It should look something like this:

"c:\programfiles\quake3\quake3.exe " +connect internalip:27960 +set net_port 27660

To do this, right click on the short cut and add it behind the exe. (Don't remove the quotes and add the settings outside/after the quotes.)

What sort of network are you running?
