 | Half-Life: Half Life 2: Episode 2 Team Fortress 2 and Portal RELEASED! |
Half Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal have just been released to anxiously waiting gamers everywhere. It has been an excruciating wait considering Episode 1 was released on June 1st of 2006, over one year ago. While Episode 2 may not push the boundaries of graphics by offering DirectX 10 graphical effects, it none the less offers spectacular DirectX 9 graphics with a few tricks up its sleeves, including the ability to offload particle effects to the GPU and of course massively fun gameplay.

 | Half-Life: Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 2, and Source Engine Updates Available |
Updates to CS:S, HL2, and the Source engine have been released. The updates will be applied utomatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:
Counter-Strike: Source
* Removed FCVAR_ARCHIVE from cl_minmodels
* Added a workaround for linux servers sometimes being frozen after changelevel
* Linux dedicated server -condebug captures all console output now
* Fixed an exploit when joining a team that could spawn live spectators
* Fixed mp3 player advancing more than 1 song during level transitions
Half-Life 2
* Fixed bug where NPCs would ignore hintbrushes that should block line of sight
Source Engine
* Fixed really long game directories not being able to upload game statistics
* Fixed listen server host not being able to hear sounds from bsp .zip files
* Fixed demo smoother not being able to select samples in certain demo files
* Fixed partial-HDR exploit in DX7 allowing wireframe materials

United Admins is pleased to release HLstats 1.34!
Version 1.34 adds support for the Vampire Slayer modification, fixes the NumPlayers bug, and fixes DNS resolution on Windows machines. No changes were made to the database, so you will not have to update your HLstats database.

 | Half-Life: Half Life2 CTF 1.4 Released! IRC Party To Follow! |
The HL2CTF Team has released what's expected to be the biggest hit yet from
their popular HL2 Capture The Flag mod.
With this release comes the first Linux download, which is going to
drastically raise the popularity here in the U.S. Until now you could only run
this mod on a Windows server.
There will be an IRC party for the official release tonight. We highly
suggest getting involved! These guys are doing a very professional job, and
deserve the support.

actually the only true Half Life 2 mod out right now.

Beta 1.4 has a lot of new stuff. Where do you, the player, find out what all
is added? Right here, of course!
New Game Modes
Beta 1.4 adds four new game modes:
* Stopwatch CTF
* Domination CTF
* 1Flag CTF
* CaptureStrike CTF
Stopwatch CTF
In Stopwatch CTF, teams take turns attacking and defending and try to beat the
previous time to capture the flag. You can only pick up the enemy flag in this
mode if your team is attacking. If you are defending, you can still return your
own flag to base. The timer on the left side of the screen will count upwards
during the first team's attack phase. Once the flag is captured, it will stop
and reset the round. The clock will then count down as the second team tries to
capture the flag faster than the first team did. If they succeed, the second
team will get a point for that round. If the first team's time is faster, they
will get the point for that round.
Stopwatch HUD
Domination CTF
In Domination CTF, there is one neutral flag and teams take turns battling for
control of it. There are two timers shown on the screen, one for rebels and one
for combine. While the flag is held by a player, the timer for that player's
team will count upward. The rest of the team should defend the flag carrier,
because once the other team kills him and takes the flag, their timer will begin
counting upward instead. The objective is to control the flag for the longest
amount of time. The first team to control the flag for more than half the
timelimit (or 10 minutes if no timelimit is set) will win.
Domination HUD
1Flag CTF
In 1Flag CTF, a neutral flag spawns in the middle of the map. The regular rebel
and combine flags spawn at base, but they cannot be picked up. The objective in
this mode is to get the neutral flag and run it into the enemy base. You score
by touching the enemy flag while you're holding the neutral flag.
1Flag HUD
CaptureStrike CTF
In CaptureStrike CTF, players start will full health and armor and all the
weapons except the RPG. This mode plays just like regular CTF, except that once
you die you will stay dead until either one whole team is eliminated or a
capture happens. Once one of those two events occurs, the round will reset and
everyone will respawn. There is also a round timer, and if time expires the
round will reset and everyone will respawn.
CaptureStrike HUD
Vanilla CTF
Vanilla CTF is the regular CTF mode that all previous versions of HL2CTF used.
It is still the default game mode, and if you don't specify an alternate game
mode above, this is the mode that will be used. The game will also default to
this mode if you try to enable an alternate game mode on a map that doesn't
support it.

ThE FLiP SiDe of TFC version 1.2 has been released. It's a crazy TFC mod that changes around
the gameplay for fun (like Neo-TF, in that sense).
ThE FLiP SiDe of TFC version 1.2 has been released today. ThE FLiP SiDe is a server-side mod for TFC that adds new weapons and specials for each class. It gives admins an arsenal of entity moving weapons to build their own mazes, houses, or whatever they may choose. It also has a system for re-skinning players to change their appearance. To top it all off, there isn’t a single model or sound for players to download, which allows for quick and easy connections without a long wait.

 | Half-Life: DoD 1.0b Server Patch available! |
A Day of Defeat 1.0b server patch has been released, this patch is only a server side update, so you only need this patch if you're running a server. A full v1.1 patch is in the works.
Here's whats in the new 1.0b patch:
fixed mp_clan_restartround - enter 'mp_clan_restartround 1' while in clan mode to restart
added mp_clan_readyrestart - enter 'mp_clan_readyrestart 1' - when someone from each team has said 'ready', the round will restart
fixed cl_lw recoil exploit
minor work to lessen server cpu usage in AddToFullPack
fixed speed bug with zooming, sprint and stamina
ducking in mid air no longer recovers stamina
don't force any help messages if the user has '_ah 0'
slowed sniper zoomed speed from 70 to 42

 | CSBot joins UA |
c00ldude writes "Starting on the 31st of May, the CSBot project will be moving to UnitedAdmins. CSBot is a server management utility for CS and NS that can also publish games over IRC, has it's own WonID database and does lots of other fun things as well. CSBot does not need run on your server, any computer with internet access will suffice, the next version will include major core changes, among other things it will become a lot easier to add support for other mods.
The project will be coordinated by Eternal_Bliss, if you are interested in joining the team or wish to suggest new features, please make your voice heard in the CSBot forums. Files will soon be available from the UnitedAdmins site, until then they can be found on csbot.org.

A new version of ClanMod from United Admins, is now available for download. This useful tool is a plug-in for Metamod that is very useful for server administration. This version, is actually a beta version of ClanMod being released to resolve problems users have been having with DoD 1.0, servers MUST be running the latest HLDS 3.1.1.1/4.1.1.1 patch, backwards compatibility will be added to the next release.

 | Half-Life: MetaMod v1.16 Now Available |
Version 1.16 of the wide spread MetaMod is available for download. This update comes highly recommended for all Counterstrike/DOD server admins, as it fixes some serious errors.
"A new version of MetaMod has been released which fixes the hitbox issues many players have been having recently. These problems were caused by a discrepancy between server and client, while the clients were using and displaying blended models, servers were calculating the clients hits and misses on unblended models. The effect of this is that while clients can see blended models, he is actually shooting at unblended models. This new version of metamod introduces server-side support for model blending, a feature only available for CS and DoD. More information on Model Blending and how this long running problem was resolved can be found here."

Day of Defeat v1.0 has been released, bringing the public release up to date with the anticipated retail release. It is recommended that you "delete or rename your old 3.1 version of DoD before installing". There is no upgrade patch in this case, only the 'full' install.

UnitedAdmins has released updates for Cheating Death in the last few days.
Halflife Admins should implement the latest update to have the latest cheat protection in place.
Of the two versions released recently...
2.9.0 Changes:
[FIXED] Code[17] bugs.
[FIXED] bug in wallhack block that in some cases caused players behind models go invisible.
[NEW] Added new detections.
[NEW] Added message that is shown when server prefixes player's name.
[NEW] - Added new cvar cdnamechangedmsg.
[CHANGED] Changed the challenge.
2.9.1 Changes:
[FIXED] Fixed false Code[49] for some GeForce users
[REMOVED] Removed "Cheating-Death forced PlayerName change name to ..." message.
